Have a look at https://npub.pro - it just went live yesterday. Also have a look at login with Nostr DM - it is beautifully simple and I am wondering why I never saw this possibility until now. In short, you enter in your nip05 address, it resolves the pubkey sends you an encrypted DM with a one-time-code, which you enter and you are logged in!

This makes me even more bullish for #nostr ... for any npub holder we can do pay-to-npub (sending ecash via encrypted dm) and now we can do login-with-npub.

The most powerful thing about an npub is its independent existence. It exists independently of client, platform, and most importantly, independently of any legal enforcement system.

That means, with my npub, I can seamlessly transition between clients and platforms which I actively do with iOS, Android, Ubuntu, macOS and with the clients: Amethyst, Primal and Damus.

I know of no other network where this can be done. Power is completely vested in me via my npub.

The other thing I have been experimenting with is Pay-to-Npub (#P2NPUB) where any npub can immediately receive payment via Lightning and received as ecash.

Stepping back, I realize these are the properties that are going to make #nostr win in the long run - independent existence and the ability to receive payments.

Pay to NPUB (P2NPUB) Proposal

This could be an easier way to transmit funds than zapping. The payer only needs to interact with a Lightning Address provider that supports P2NPUB. #Nostr and #CASHU take care of the rest.

P2NPUB is simply:

1. The LN Address provider detects that the local part of a LN address is a valid npub.
2. The LN address provider accepts the payment on behalf of the npub
3. The LN address provider then immediately mints a Cash token of corresponding amount (minus applicable fees)
4. The LN address provider sends by DM (NIP-04) to npub
5. Npub receives DM and redeems accordingly.

Already implemented for @openbalance.app

Any LN address provider can implement now.

Finally, LN wallets can easily support - it's just Lightning Address. If just a npub, just transform into a Lightning Address that supports P2NPUB.
