If you are a student of history, you will see that the Nation State strategy playing out is as epic as what Charlemagne did in 800AD, where he struck a deal with the Church where he would be sovereign over earthly affairs, and the Church, affairs of the soul.
Today, the equivalent of Charlemagne (namely, the EU) is striking a deal with Big Tech (GAFA) to oversee the digital affairs while keeping hold of the affairs of the state.
While the EU has been publicly against Big Tech, they have little choice, so deals are likely being made in the back rooms or implicitly.
The only way to counter this to exit completely. I call this ‘Exit to Community’.
