After reading an editorial about BRICS (in the South China Morning Post), this insight jumped out at me. It’s not about global supremacy, it’s about not being scared - by maintaining your sovereignty.

Interestingly, on the other side of the world (Wall St. Journal), another editorial about purchasing sovereignty. 40% of the US territory was actually purchased (Alaska, Louisiana Purchase, Virgin Islands, etc.) and it is ‘normal’ to purchase sovereignty, for example, Greenland being the latest in the news.

What we are witnessing are the offers of trade, before the drums of war start beating. Good or bad? That remains to be seen. What worries we most, are the sovereign countries who are running scared; there’s no prediction of what they might do. Being sovereign > Being scared
