A few months back I was thinking about the banana index - how many sats does a banana cost in your country. This is a similar idea to the Big Mac index that the Economist created that compared how many hours(minutes) you needed to work in a local economy (average wage) to enjoy a Big Mac. The idea was that the Big Mac was a relatively standard on the global scale but used local inputs/outputs to produce and consume. From the Big Mac index you could determine the disparities between economies.
I thought the same idea could be applied to the banana index. How many sats does a banana cost in your local economy? In Canada, a few months back it was 572 sats/banana. I just did the calculation once again and it’s now 171 sats/banana. I’d love to see what a banana costs in sats in other parts of the world.
