Imagine if a law enforcement official doesn’t like what you posted, so they force entry into your residence and take away your phone and other electronic devices.
You’re screwed.
That’s now the reality in some Western countries, where posting something that might make someone uncomfortable or be considered factually incorrect by the authorities is now considered to be an offence.
I don’t want that.
That’s why I’ve been especially motivated as of late with #nostr #safebox - building a capability where your funds and data don’t exist on your phone, but securely on multiple relays ‘out there’ beyond the reach of any one single authority. I am also building the capability that if your online service provider (the one that provides you with a lightning payment address) turns hostile, you can burn your service data, exit the service, and go elsewhere with your #nostr #safebox. Even the worst case, if one of your relays go hostile, you can leave it and continue on another.
As I build #nostr #safebox, I am not ruling out that you can trust others, but ultimately what I building, is that if you need to trust yourself alone, you can do that.
