30 years ago, Mosaic made it easy to read stuff on the internet.
Today, #nostr now makes it easy to trust stuff on the internet.
Why?
Back in the day, the browser separated content from presentation, and the content containers (i.e., websites) were open by default with hyperlinks.
Fast forward to today, #nostr separates signing events (npub) from being part of a web of trust. The two components need to work together, but each having their own degree of freedom, you alone get to decide what is part of your web of trust, not some authority who has control over the platform.
It’s hard to overstate the significance of this subtle shift in architecture. Like the browser, it took a few years to blow out the existing architecture, leading to a boom. I see the same thing happening with #nostr - blowing out the existing trust architectures into something completely new.
